Upping the Standard
Crown Computing has successfully transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 the latest version of the quality management standard.
ISO9001 is the world’s most recognised quality management system standard – embraced by millions of organisations worldwide and is administered by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
The new standard continues to ensure that organisations adopt a robust and thorough approach to management and business processes – helping maintain consistency and customer assurance.
Crown, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has been consistently certified to recognised quality management standards since 1993 and has undergone regular assessments across all business areas to maintain the certification.
The update to the standard has “raised the bar” for organisations, placing greater emphasis on leadership, risk management, strategic planning, evaluation and communication. All organisations which met the previous version of the standard to ‘transition’ to the new one.
Karen Edwards, Crown’s Operations Manager who oversees Operations and Quality, said that the assessment of the exacting standard was rigorous in its approach.
“We undertook a gap analysis earlier in the year with our Business Assurance partner LRQA, to identify shortfalls in compliance. This enabled Crown to improve in those areas that needed greater clarity to ensure that we could be confident in our delivery of sustainable and intuitive performance.”
“It has meant a great deal of hard work but it has been worth it as this standard is an assurance to our customers and prospective customers that we are a business committed to meeting their requirements and ensuring that they are satisfied with the products and services that they receive.”
The new standard has been introduced to reflect radical changes within the business environment which have occurred since the previous standard was introduced in 2000.
Crown’s Managing Director, Mike Hawkesford echoed Karen’s comments: ‘We are delighted to have successfully transitioned across to the new standard and we continue to be focussed on meeting current and future customer’s requirements.
