Apprenticeship Levy – Extra Session

Apprenticeship Levy – Extra Session

An extra date been scheduled to advise business leaders about the new apprenticeship levy.

Crown Workforce Management Systems is sponsoring the free lunchtime workshop in the run-up to when the new tax comes into force this April.

Six sessions have already been held around the country throughout January and February, attended by almost 100 business – from medium sized organisations to multi-national blue chip companies.

However, as the ‘go live’ date draws near, it appears that the complexities of the levy have left many confused and under prepared.

The levy is a mandatory tax for employers with a UK payroll of £3m+ who will be charged 0.5% of their overall payroll bill from April 2017.

Businesses can offset this levy to fund apprenticeship training programmes for new and existing staff but the legislation is complex as the application of training and development under the apprenticeship scheme has been extended. Staff who are not formal apprentices may qualify under the new rules.

“We asked those companies who attended whether they would benefit from further sessions nearer to the implementation and the answer was a resounding, ‘yes’, said David Bacon, Sales Director for Crown Workforce Management Systems.

“We are also aware that there are many other businesses out there that need some training and support to prepare their organisations for this step change,” he said.

The session will again be headed by SR Education, a private training provider that specialises in delivering high quality and effective training programmes, which are specifically designed to meet the needs of employers and provide positive impact on their business operations.

Lunch will also be provided for all those who attend.

The programme includes presentations around the apprenticeship levy including the background, possible scenarios and implications. After the lunch break, there will be a workshop on how to comply, an outline of benefits and an opportunity to put questions.

The briefing start from 12.00 pm and will be held at:

  • The Holiday Inn Hotel London, Watford Junction, 65-67 Clarendon Road, Watford, WD17 1DS, on 28 March
